My wife Jane and I recently had our dream home built by Able Home Builders and I felt compelled to offer a letter of recommendation and thanks given the absolutely wonderful experience we had working with them.

I met Willie Delfs while serving as President of the Sioux City Optimist Club where he was past President and the current Secretary/Treasurer. At that time, two things impressed me about Willie: First, he was taking the time to give back to the community in which he lived and worked. Secondly, if Willie said something was going to get done, it got done the right way and in a prompt manner. I remember thinking that if I ever chose to build a home, I wanted someone with the integrity that I saw in Willie.

When that time arrived I did not hesitate to call Able and ask them to build the house to the custom plan we had designed. I knew that Willie was the President of the Homebuilders Association and that Able had won numerous awards and recognition for the quality and energy efficiency of their homes. Willie was a tremendous help every step of the way. From referring us to a designer to draw the blue-prints to working with the utility providers to help us earn rebates on appliances. He even attended a County Zoning Commission meeting in order to help present my case for a variance based upon where I wanted to build my home. That’s what I call going the extra mile!

During the construction itself I was amazed at the cohesiveness of the Able team. From the core Able family of Willie, Jeff “Woody” Delfs, John, Greg and Mark to the quality subcontractors involved, it was easy to see the respect with which Able Home Builders was viewed. Jane and I were always welcomed at the job site by all and were comfortable dealing with every member of the team in terms of asking for advice and getting any questions we had answered. It was clear to us that these folks weren’t just punching the clock each day, they really were as excited as we were in watching the house go from plan to completion. The pride they take in their work is evident in the fine craftsmanship of our home. In the end, they made us feel as much a part of the building process as they were.

To Willie, Woody and the Boys – Thank you for making the building so much fun! We love our new home but will sincerely miss working with you guys!

To anyone considering building a home – Able is the way to go. Period. Feel free to call me for a viewing of our home at 1905 Elk Creek Road in rural Sergeant Bluff.
